Our Mission Statement

"The Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Department serves to protect our community from loss of life and property by maintaining preparedness through our dedication to prevention, education, training and best practices."
     Thank you for your interest in joining the Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Department. Established in 1979, the department services our community by providing fire suppression readiness, fire prevention education, special rescue, and emergency medical first responder services.
Membership Eligibility:
Membership starts with the completion of the attached application, followed by completion of a criminal and driving history check. Eligible applicants MUST:

  • Be eighteen (18) or older.

  • Not have any felony conviction.

  • Not have a misdemeanor conviction involving theft or substance abuse.

  • Maintain a current Texas Drivers License and not have more than two (2) driving, moving, convictions within a three (3) year period.
     Eligible applicants must complete a four (4) hour orientation and probationary firefighter program in order to obtain "Active Membership" with the department. Once you have submitted the attached application, we will process your application. This process may take up to two (2) weeks so please do not become discouraged. After your application has been processed satisfactorily, you will be contacted and scheduled to complete the department's orientation.
