Dear Bayou Vista Friends:
Words cannot express our sincere gratitude for all the love and support shown at Russell's benefit. Our families were simply overwhelmed. We honestly had no idea how deeply Russell touched so many people. The community opened its arms up and embraced our family during this tragedy like nothing we have ever seen before. You will never know how appreciative we are for the care, kindness and generosity shown by the entire community. Thank you to all those who spent countless hours on the telephone, selling tickets, taking tickets and money, getting auction items, cooking, serving, cleaning, playing music, and preparing for such an extraordinary event. Thanks to all the donors, businesses and buyers that gave unselfishly. You all will always have a very special place in our hearts. Russell was a man of simple means with a heart of gold and compassion for his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all of us who loved him; however, his smile, his uncanny sense of humor, his robust laugh, and those little idiosyncrasies will live within our hearts forever. Thank each and every one of you again for the love that has been showered upon our family. Sandi and Hali Belcher |

The
love and support shown Sunday, and throughout the process of the Russell
Belcher Benefit was unbelievable! The
turnout was beyond any of our expectations and it is greatly
appreciated. We
thank all the participants who gave time and donations to this cause.
A thank you to all of those who participated Sunday from Bayou
Vista, Omega Bay, the entire county, Huntsville, Houston, Conroe, Katy,
and Louisiana connections, and friends and families from other areas.
We thank the businesses and individuals for each and every
donation, all the people who helped with food and beverage preparation,
each individual who helped in any way with organization, set-up,
clean-up, ticket sales, etc. The list goes on and on.
Anyone who knows someone that participated, but does not have
access to the message board, please pass along thank you to them for us.
We certainly don’t want to exclude anyone who helped in any way
with this benefit as any and all help, donations, or act of kindness has
been appreciated. As
was said to me Sunday, “there are no words that can be said or written
that’s sufficient to express the heartfelt thank you”.
All we can say is thank you and what a great community!! (This heartfelt thank you is posted by request of, and on behalf of Sandi and Hali Belcher and Family and Friends of Russell.)

Russell Anthony
Belcher |
|
Russell Anthony Belcher was born in Houston, Texas to Floyd and Betty Belcher. He was a 1979 graduate of Houston's John H. Reagan High School and a four-year letterman at Sam Houston State University. In 2000, Russell founded "Big Daddy's Smokehouse and Grill" in Bayou Vista, Texas and the Lake Charles, Louisiana location in 2003. His larger-than-life, robust and humorous personality was a defining factor in his success. When Russell wasn't working, he could be found under the Galveston Causeway fishing with friends. A man of integrity and loyalty, he was dearly loved by his family, friends and co-workers who will cherish many happy memories of him. Russell was preceded in death by his father, Floyd L. Belcher. He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 31 years, Sandi; his adoring daughter, Hali, who he was so very proud of for all her accomplishments; mother, Betty Ruth Belcher; brothers, Val and Gary Belcher; best friend, Doug Day; mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Chester Massey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Terri Belcher, Nancy and Daniel B. Ramsey Jr., Steve and Kimberly Meyer, Debi and Bill Young, Conni and Brady Gage; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Tues. Sept. 23. Funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Wed. Sept. 24. Both services to be held at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy. 6, Hitchcock, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Coastal Conservation Association at 4801 Woodway, Suite 220W, Houston, TX, 77056. |
